Suggestion:
Introduce direct Member elections for a proportion of Community Board members. There should be at least one directly elected representative from each of the member group categories - so Branches, Special Groups and International Sections - elected directly to Community Board as community advocates.

does this mean Community Board starts to overlap with Council (where this already happens). Roles of Council and Community Board need to be clearer.

I agree with Carol's point. The BCS Strategic Boards, including Community Board, do ask for Council guidance on points which involve membership

Better to publicise available roles and recruitment process than elections.
DISAGREE - Community Board
Submitted by Len Keighley on
DISAGREE - Community Board has evolved from being a representative of Member Groups not the membership as a whole, maybe it needs to reconsider that evolution. Council is the representative body of the membership and hence has the elections as described and Council does provide Board members to Community for liaison etc.
Question: How many Community Board members also have a MG Committee role?
