AGREE. The number of people

AGREE. The number of people choosing a branch would give a measure of its success. Also those there by default could form a data segment (email address) to be targetted with extra encouragement to participate (or would that put them off?)

in fact AGREE STRONGLY
if members are assigned arbitarily according to where they happen to live at the time of joining the BCS, then we can end up with phantom branches, e.g. all the members assigned to Leicester branch...its not clear which ones chose Leicester, and which were just assigned.
With Coventry Branch, we put out a questionnaire, 18 people bothered to reply (...at the time there were 12 on the Committee...) of our 873 members, I wonder how many actually nominated Coventry as their preferred branch...

All my branch members are equal. Whether they were assigned or elected is irrelevant.
Better to understand if the member's assigned primary branch is appropriate for them since we don't know if the postcode is home or work and what distance separates the two.
DISAGREE - Don't think it

DISAGREE - Don't think it matters why the member was assigned to the Branch and they definitely should NOT be treated differently. Also don't believe it would show the how successful a Branch is either as I suspect most choose by geography, work or home, anyway.

Probably more relevant to ask them to opt in to MG communications, and keep their preferences updated. People move about.
