I do not think this will make a difference. Surely transparency is reasonable and should be there in the first place. However, improving the "offer" would be better.

Work on this has already been investigated by the Membership and marketing team - let’s use their professional experience.
However, as an individual it would be helpful to have an updated list of my potential benefits every year.

AGREE. Clarity is always good and perhaps we are losing members by not reminding them of the benefits.

Membership, reporting and benefits

I agree with the many good recommendations to encourage and maintain engagements with BCS, branches and special interest groups. I hope these will encompass efforts to report membership demographics (e.g., what percentage of members are fellows, part-time, female etc. and analyses of barriers to progression) and further engagements of academic communities.

I had forgotten there were member benefits (or I had forgotten to check what they are!) Do I remember a Vauxhall car scheme many years ago (or was that the IET?)

I agree completely, but would also add that we need to do more - every time we've suggested to groups that we do something to encourage our non-members to become members e.g. offering a short term or trial membership as part of a conference registration fee, there has been some block that prevented this. We've basically given up, tbh.
