There really should be one volunteer recognition policy / process that covers all aspects of volunteering. E.g. Branches, Member Groups, CITP/FBCS/CEng Assessors, etc.. (FWIW the CITP Assessor recognition policy has not been implemented for a few years ago).
And we need to ensure historical records of volunteering are not deleted - e.g. because of GDPR.
Pet peeve - I received my 25 years Gold Pin in 2009 (5 years late, but appreciated). Then in 2017 I received "Congratulations on your 10 years ..."! Apparently BCS HQ had deleted all records of past volunteering so don't actually know length of service. I felt a bit insulted by that.

I have two small chrome pin badges, two copper pin badges and a slightly larger chrome pin badge. Are these supposed to be silver and bronze? Can I look forward to a Gold one in 2023?

I agree, but can we have the volunteer award framework better publicised. Long service awards should be triggered by the member groups team identifying that someone has long service rather than by committees (as I think is the process now) UNLESS the committee want to give a special award for some reason.

In principle I agree as you can't recognise what you don't know. In reality, I agree with Kylie's comments regards communicating the framework and the members group team identifying. We just don't have access to membership data to make that call as Branch Committee.
